How Good of A Salesmen Are You?

01/30/201707/31/2018 / othalafehu / Leave a comment

Lighten Up Francis! Below is a list of uncommon items. You're a good salesman, how many of them do you think you could successfully sell by the roadside? A History of Liabilities

Going Back Almost A Decade An inheritance from my in-laws allowed us to pay down some serious debt in late 2008. Selling an inherited house in 2017 gave us another batch of funds to pay down liabilities. We refinanced our mortgage in June of 2008. There is truth to the old adage, if you can … Continue reading A History of Liabilities

All The Money In The World

This is an article/chart from CBSMarketwatch. It is very interesting and totally terrifying.  Derivatives are not wealth. They are the potential destroyers of all wealth. The problem is that we do not even understand how these vehicles really work, you don't get to just say BECAUSE. If you have not seen the movie 'The Big Short', … Continue reading All The Money In The World

Salary Add-ons

When you are trying to figure out what your real salary is, you don't just look at the dollar amount on the paycheck right? Different jobs come with different packages. To truly evaluate the job, you need to factor in the benefits beyond the hourly rate. Private employers may have Bonuses, but Public jobs have … Continue reading Salary Add-ons

PayCheck History

01/27/201703/09/2018 / othalafehu / 5 Comments

Part of figuring out where you are going is to review where you have already been. There are probably things that I obsessively track that serve no functional purpose, but the history of your paycheck / salaries is a worthy category. Wife was only working part time 2007-2012 Lazy wife still only part time  Finally, … Continue reading PayCheck History

Pagan Finance award

WHY OTHALAFEHU?

The RUNES are the ancient writing system of the Germanic peoples handed down to man from the pagan god Odin.

Othala is the rune for ancestral home, the hearth, and sacred enclosure. Fehu represents our power and possessions gained by own hand, the measure of our earned wealth.

And so my Personal Finance / Net Worth / Dividend Portfolio / Secret Journal was born.
